I suspect both of the relays are the same for the high/low speed. I will check later though; the wires coming to the fan from the relay box are equal in gauge it seems. My new fan is only a 10 amp draw anyhow. I will definitely take another look today before I tear into it.

The relays are, but the wiring and fuses might not be. I think the low speed fuse is 8.5 amps, not a big deal to swap out for a 10a or 15a, but I'd rather use the high speed circuit rather than worry about burning up some wiring and overheating my car. :)Comment

If the wires are the same gauge, which I am almost positive they are, I will then just up the fuse rating like you said. I'll post pics and stuff eventually.

i went ahead and bought an electric thermostat so i don't go through fuses like a bag of skittles.
i couldnt find the exact one i purchased but this is very similar. This one is from JEGS.
you guys should check it out... its a good upgrade.

and you also need to verify that your aux fan actually works..Comment

yeah sorry, by thermostat, i meant the switch for the aux fan.
yes my aux fan should work correctly, i just purchased a rust free one with a condensor since my fan was seized and the condensor leaked.
what i wanted to confirm was that hot summer traffic days with AC would be okay. i know most guys who delete the mechanical fan dont run AC anymore.90 E30 325iComment

you can bypass the low speed on the thermoswitch so it turns on the high speed when it reaches the 80c threshold (just change the wires on the connector so it grounds the high speed for both posts). the AC will still turn on the low speed unless it starts to get warmer, then the high speed would kick in. that would work.Comment

Why are people hatin up on clutch fans???
Unless clearance is the issue, clutch fans are awesome. I've seen 500-600 2jz's and rb25's still running clutch fans w/ no problems. Why get rid of what the BMW engineers spent millions researching for??
