when talking to treehouse, the booster that they sell is a modified 320 booster....

is there really that much difference from an ix booster / 944 booster / 320 booster? what if you're running bigger brakes?

I'm in the middle of a 5 lug swap and i thought i had read that the 320 booster doesn't work well with bigger brakes....

I'd call them to confirm, frankly. But FWIW, it's a modified e21 booster, which will take the standard MC from a non-IX e30 with no issue.

Swing wild, brake later, don't apologize.

Good question on the bigger brakes. I know I'll want to install a BBK after the s52 swap is done. Since the booster is smaller, I would think you would need more pedal force to break. Anyone running a BBK with the Treehouse booster?

Do you guys know how much money it takes to keep a shop open? Keep lights on? Make payroll? Pay rent?

That's why things cost what they do.

Wow, it looks like the just keep raising the price as time goes on. You'd think they'd get better at making these over time and lower the prices!

So again for confirmation, if I have the option of getting a 320, ix, or 944 boosters from auto parts store for ~$120, which one would be the simplest to modify and install?

At the moment it looks like a 944 booster, just cut rod to needed length and thread it? I just don't want to lose much assist from a smaller booster.

And I can pick up a 320 booster for ~$15 from the local junkyard. Looks rusty though, might leak. Worth the effort? Can I just cut this one and thread it like the 944 booster?

I think the 944 booster has more boost than the 320i booster.

The 320i booster input rod needs to be cut. The only issue is, the shaft is 12mm in diameter, and the clevis is M10x1.5. So, you're going to have to either grind the shaft down to around 10mm in diameter and thread it with an M10x1.5 die, or you're going to have to drill and tap the clevis to M12x1.5.

944 for the win. It's total volume is larger than the 320.
