can i use my stock trans with my M50 swap?

and dont tell me to search because i already have and i cant find an exact clear answer.

i have an '87 325is and i assume the stock transmission is a Getrag 260 but im not 100% clear on that either.

i've read that it will bolt up to the M50 and that i can use the stock transmission mounts and crossmember.
    is this true?

if not, what do i need?

obviously i can use the transmission that comes off of the M50 but i dont have one and i dont want to go get one if i dont have to
    what exactly is sigworthy

      Dude, really, search.

Yes, it bolts to the motor, yes, you can use stock e30 mounts if you get a custom transmission brace, conversely you can use a combination of different mounts if you want to retain the stock brace. Again, hit "search", these aren't new things.

Okay. It's been done a number of times. Getting a custom brace works better.

I used Doug's bracket, makes it plug and play.

I like my 260 because I'm keeping all the gear ratios and the "feel" that I'm used to but if (when) I get an S52 I'll certainly change the tranny.

yes i know i already read a lot of pages of that thread but i talked to someone about it and he didnt think that the tranmission would bolt up. glad to hear it does.

Does someone make a custom brace that you can buy or something?

and another thing i have been told is that the pilot bearing on the M50 is larger than that on the M20. will that cause a problem?
