I think that will be a major restriction. You might just want to make a custom exhaust setup but I used a Remus for the last section after the cat and it worked out perfectly.
I think you're right. Based on your posts, I'll have a very similar motor build to yours, but 3.0L. Did you use a Remus E36 or a universal? If universal, a single or dual-in?

Thanks!
Remus e36 it is a dual in and dual out. I really couldn't be happier with it. The fitment was dead on and required 0 modification. The only custom part of my setup is the outlet from the headers and then the 3in cat.

Hmm - thanks for the quick feedback.
I just took some measurements, and I think the only way to get a muffler with dual tips to fit is if it's only 4" wide. The stock E30 325i tips pretty much point off to the side, so I think if I take my UUC exhaust to the shop and have them cut and re-weld the tips at an angle, it just might work. I'll have to swing by the shop after work and see what they say.
There has been nothing about this swap that's gone easily. :)
Has anyone run an E30 cat-back on an S50/S52? I'm expecting approx 320 hp at the crank and it seems most E30 325i cat-backs are the stock diameter (1.75" I think).
Are you getting those numbers with cams? Which ones if so?
A full bolt-on s52 will not make 320 to the crank if that's what you're planning... :tsk:
e30s52;1530308]Basicly everything you did was custom. Why should this be easy lol.[/quote]
X2.
Swaps don't go too smoothly for most on their first try. Mine sure as hell didn't.
I found a local shop to do the exhaust work early next week! "Old School Automotive"...how perfect is that.
...now back to people who actually have pictures to share. :)
Should be fun! 320 bhp sounds like a pretty good estimate, but don't be sad if it's lower. One guy had TRM build virtually the same motor as you and made 254whp, which is about 300 bhp. :|
Just got my exhaust done today at MBS in Pasadena.
Ebay SS replica headers
2.5 inch aluminized steel (felt like saving a 150 bucks)
Magnaflow straight through muffler
Vibrant Street Power Muffler in flat black (2.5 in and dual 3's out)
Overall it looks awesome, its a little loud for my liking, but I'll get used to it. They did a really good job. The only downside is that where the headers connect to the exhaust, it still hangs a bit low, but this is because of my ebay headers...
I'll try and get some pictures up this weekend for all to see.
