        Test Results

Thanks to everyone for your input.

Here are the sad facts. My results are in italics

        HC allowed 1.000 GPM - 2.797 - failed
        CO allowed 20.000 GPM - 17.692 - passed
        NOX allowed 2.200 GPM - 3.875 - failed

Cat is a name brand and was thoroughly warmed.

FWIW - the car idles perfectly even with A/C on. You cannot tell the car has cams until 3.5-4k then hold on 'cause all hell breaks loose. Then another lesser surge at about 5,000 RPM.

With stock s50 and Dinan chip, the car made 217RWHP. I haven't tested it yet with the current setup.

Freaking MD emissions stations cant keep a standardized testing scale. I always get mine in PPM. Limit on HC is 220ppm my cammed eta 2.7i with bad cat had 218ppm. m50 with turner chip is 89i exhaust/cats was 43ppm HC. It seems like your convertor is not a 3 way in which to reduce NOx. The NOx are from excessively high combustion chamber temps, which you should see reduced HCs. But you have a lack of oxygen in the burn or a lean misfire that is causing the high HCs. Could very well be a lean miss as it would cause a hotter burn causing the increase in NOx and the increased potential for a miss.

What type of fuel were you running? Brand and octane

Texaco (because it's free through my company) and only premium (93).

I'm thinking about putting the car on the dyno for A/F readings under load. What do think?

Get an afr if you can. See if you can do a similar run to the IM 240 or whatever they are calling it today (basically a really quick drivecycle).
