Yeah, I'm not too worried about it. It has high miles, but it's still better then the engine that is coming out of the car. My friend bought a 525i with this motor in it, and drove it a couple hundred miles home and it ran perfect. If it lasts two years, I will be happy. It was free.
Anyone care to double check my wiring?

I took today off work to get a head start. I pulled the car in the garage at 9:00am this morning. By 12, the engine was ready t be pulled. So I took a lunch break, waited for my friend to stop by, and we pulled it out in about 20 minutes. Not bad at all, everything went smooth. I did the mandatory "forget to unhook the slave cylinder and fuel lines trick", so I had to do that while the engine was in midair.
Found a few issues, one of which was the guibo, which was killed. Went to the dealer and got a new for 90 fucking dollars.
I also didn't like the idea of grinding down the oil pan, once I actually saw what need grinded down...
So I took it to a machine shop, it should be done sometime tomorrow and I can put the engine and trans back together, and drop it in the car.
Some other pics:
The plan for tomorrow is to modify the booster and heater core pipes, clean the engine bay, run the c104 wires, some other odds and ends, then depending what time my flywheel gets done, reassemble the engine/trans and maybe drop it in and start hooking shit up.
Question... Is it possible remove the booster without removing the hard lines from the master cylinder? It doesn't seem like the master cylinder will pull out (lol), unless there is a special trick. My fluid is fine, it's newer ATE super blue, I don't really want to add bleeding brakes to my already lengthy to-do list this weekend.Comment

Today sucked. Tried to cut and thread the booster myself. HA! I ended up bitching it up and having to take it to a machine shop to finish the job correctly... I bitched up the shaft enough for the threads to be pretty ugly, but I got it set the right length and good to go (I hope). I wasn't aware there is dies for chasing and dies for threading, and you can't use chasing dies to start threads... as they don't have the expansion cut. Lesson learned... 4 hours later. But the machine shop out here in Amish country was more then friendly and helpful. For $20 he cut the shaft and the clevis pin to 12x1.75mm. And answered all my questions. haha
Engine and trans are back together, just need to grind the block and install the m20 starter. I didn't need a clutch alignment tool, I eyeballed it and it went together easily.
Not gonna lie, I'm a little sick of the project at this point. I just want it to be over with.Comment

Good luck man. Just think, we'll both have our daily drivers up and running, better then ever, within the next few days!
I went back to the garage tonight and made some more progress. Did a major garage cleaning, cleaned my engine bay, cleaned the engine up, etc...
Also mounted the headers and starter (grinding the block wasn't too bad).
I need to figure out the starter wiring (anyone have any idea? 85 325e starter, 94 525i harness).Comment

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention my new weight reduction:

Too late. haha. No biggie, I'll bleed the brakes.
I have the engine in, and there's some issues for sure.
Headers are resting on the subframe on one tube, and against the body on the other.
Trans is way higher then it should be, I can't even pull it down to be lined up right though.
Radiator hoses are bein a bitch. I think I ruined 4 good hoses so far.
I'll post pics tomorrow morning. I'm half loaded and don't feel like attempting to upload pics right now.Comment

Good progress!
What are you going to do with this cracked/rusted corner?

Turns out the whole shock tower was tweaked and torqued, looks like it has been beaten up for a few years. So we spent most of today grinding out the seam filler and re-welding all of the seams, and reinforcing everything.Comment

I bought those crappy hedders. They leaked like shit and the welds are crap. don't waste your time.Comment
