Glad its starting for you. Yeah I'd think that the hfm would be the reason for it not idling right.

im probably going to get a 3.5 hfm but i will need software for that to run properly :(

does anyone have a used one, a stock m50 hfm that is..

try ebay ss headers that is loud as hell. nice job starting it. go get your self a m50 obd1 maf and it will idle. welcome to the club

i will actually be running E36 cats and midpipe to a stock 328i exhaust. the catback is temporary so that i can at least start driving the car!

sure... if your rings are worn or improperly seat, the engine will have trouble getting the compression it needs to run. A little dab of oil in the spark plug holes will help seal/seat the rings.

Put the essentials on today so that it is roadworthy.

I am trying to identify the noise so here's two vid's...let me know what you guys think!

Oh and it idles now thanks to proper MAF :)

sounds like the lifters are still flat. sometimes they will pump up on their own. maybe not tho, change the oil with something thin (5w-30), drive, then switch back to 10w-30.
