As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

i found something rather interesting.
since fredk is talking about the notch mating up and all...i realized on realoem the pic is a bit different to the tensioner i have.
and mine:
it doesn't have that notch in it like the one in the pic yet the p/n's match because this is exactly what i ordered from patrick.
ninja edit:
i actually upgraded to the s50 tensioner however my m50 came with the older tensioner (two-piece) and there was no notch at the end...IG: deniso_nsi Leave me feedback here

Engine auto parts for BMW 3-Series E36 (1992-1999): Timing Belts and Tensioners, Timing Belts, & more... and other parts related to Camshafts & Timing Chains
should i perhaps switch to the tensioner that is listed at the top?
i will be dropping the oil pan over the weekend and will most likely take of the front timing case cover in the process.
i think i will try my luck first and hope that its just the chain tensioner hugely mis-aligned.IG: deniso_nsi Leave me feedback here

If your chain rail isn't pre-95(M50 style) and you are using a pre-95 (M50 style) notched tensioner, then you have the wrong tensioner. My 2.9L Build!

Unless you find out you have a cracked block and have to grab a random one at work that has the least amount of shit on it to get it to the machine shop and don't realize it is an M52 block.
