my throttle body has a second butterfly upstream of the main one that bolts to the intake manifold. obviously, i have no plans to use that system and it seems a bit in the way. if i were to remove it(it will unbolt) there won't be any flange for the intake boot to mount. what would be my best course of action?
my s52 has traction control. how do i get rid of it?

There should still be a flange for the boot to mount to...
You will need the non-ASC boot, and depending on the routing and connectors of the vacuum hoses that go into the ASC throttle body and/or boot, you may need to replace/modify them. I'm not too familiar with m52's, so I'm not sure. With an m50, you just unbolt the ASC throttle body, put the new boot on, and connect everything back up. -

thank you for all the help above, guys. in answer to the question quoted above, i don't know if your are kidding around or not. i guess technically, i do, because it limits airflow through the throttle body and thus presumably less power. if you are asking me if i have it hooked up on my e30....well....no.
has anyone tried the throttle body from a 540 or 740? would it even fit the manifold? saw one in the junkyard yesterday and that got me thinking....sigpic
