    show/tell electric fan setup

Ive got an unfinished m50 swap...and I need to wire up the electrical fan...I ac has been deleted so I can't wire it to that...what options do I have besides wiring it to a switch..It would be nice if it came regulated itself.....
If this is a noob question please be patient with me as this is my first venture with an m50 and I am having to redo some of the work done by the p/o
    pics?

Spal fan from bimmerworld. It works great. I mounted mine on the front of the rad because it would not fit on the engine side.

Need to include whether or not you still have the AC condenser.

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

That's what I got. 2950cfm, and 125 bucks plus shipping. Also, you can get kits with those ones, as well as the spal, to have it come on and off w/ set temperatures.

can someone make a measurement of their 325i radiator?

i found on the forum that is: 1.3125" or 1 5/16"

            my 318is rad is: 1.75" or 1 3/4"

if those numbers are right, and i were to switch to a 325i rad i would have around a 1/2" (less actually) of additional clearance...

who has a 16" spal WITH a/c and 325i radiator??

i don't really want to waste my time or money if this shit doesn't fit...i'm already pissed that my current setup doesn't work. the damn a/c pulley is the culprit =(

i haven't done a swap yet, but i used a Z-3 A/C fan. it is slightly bigger than the E-30 one and will bolt in to the stock location with minimal fabing and still use the stock rubber bushings.

it draws less amps than the E-30 one and is quieter too.

              just an idea

I've used a 14" fan from autozone, along with their adjustable thermostat kit. I have installed this on 3 cars, 2 of which are m50 and the other is an m20 track car, and it works great on all of them. Total cost is around $80.

Wire a relay in. Run switched power to the relay, to trip the main battery power. 1 amp fuse on the switched power, ~30amp (depending on your fan) fuse for the battery power. Wire the thermostat to the ground side of the fan. I did this and haven't had to touch it since.

                            Just a thought..

I was planning on using two smaller fans placed by the upper and lower radiator hose areas..

Anyone try this? I have to add fans where I am due to the heat and having AC.

I also run this setup and it works well and keeps me cool at the track, even with the 318is radiator I use. I never see more than half on the cooling gauge
