    I just said "probably" because he's talking about an iX, which I'm not terribly familiar with. I dont know how the extra weight and the spline-stripping components affect it compared to a standard rear wheel drive E30.

      i saw some where that the iX weights 2988lbs, i dont know what the weight is of the RWD. The weak links seem to be the splines of the front shaft going into the transfer case, these seem to get rusty and than round off. I have also heard that the front diff doesn't like torque. Keeping this in mind I'm not going to punch it off the line and wait till I'm rolling to get on it, much like any car with power. The stress on those parts is a lot more if I accelerate from a low speed than mat it at a higher speed.

        it's about 145lbs heavier. the weight varies by year, earlier cars were actually heavier than later ones (this is true of all E30s). no trunk tar in '91, for example.

        an ix drivetrain in good condition can handle hundreds of drag launches in the 200-300hp range. you aren't going to break something driving to the grocery store unless it was broken already.
