I've been looking at all kinds of different options for a custom exhaust. I'm currently leaning towards this 24" Aero Stealth muffler, or perhaps a similar 18" Thermal Research muffler for my midpipe.

How long can the mid muffler be on an e30 before you run into fitment issues?

I might pair it up with this Megan Racing 2.5in/dual 3.0"out flat black muffler that looks pretty nice. Has anybody ever heard a Megan muffler? I'm looking for a deep but not overly loud tone.

I'm considering testing out a few of these pieces on behalf of the community. I know the smart thing to do is to simply follow Polak's secret recipe but I just can't let him have all the fun!

That Aero muffler is too big and heavy, and will cause fitment issues as a center muffler/resonator. If you don't go with the Borla, then go with a Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonator (http://www.verociousmotorsports.com/...uiet-Resonator) in the middle, paired with 1 of the following 3 end mufflers for a nice tone:

      1. Vibrant Street Power (Higher pitched, slight rasp)
      2. Borla Pro-XS (Deeper and less raspy then the Vibrant)
      3. Flo Pro MAX muffler (Deepest tone I've heard on a 24v motor)

Well, I just ordered the flowmaster Y, V band clamps, Borla, and Vibrant mufflers to copy this exhaust system. I couldn't handle the rasp of my setup anymore. I hope I get the same good results.

I'm shopping for my s52's exhaust right now.
Was there any advantage to 2.5" piping over the 3" piping?

Would straight from exhaust manifolds (stock s52) to a vibrant streetpower stealth be ridiculously loud?

Should I at least add a resonator in the middle?

3" just a bit more top end, but definitely less mid-range and low-end then the 2.5". The 3" was also considerably louder then the 2.5".

I would add either an Ultra-Quiet resonator, or a middle muffler, as the Vibrants are loud to begin with.

Saw this after I bought my stuff, but I ended up going with a Vibrant Ultra quiet resonator and Vibrant stealthpower muffler!

                Should sound pretty mean
