    Heater Fan Access

I have finally started driving my 1988 325i (4 door sedan) M50 swapped vehicle. And I have noticed that the heater fan is really noisy, noisy enough that I might have to replace it. Am I going to have to drop the engine to get that fan motor out of there?

Not really, but taking the intake manifold off will help, it's a tight fit in there with a 24v.

I was able to replace my blower motor fan with manifold on (s50 swapped) its a PITA but it can be done I suggest replacing the resistor that sits right below the fan its about 15$ on amazon while your in there.

The manifold only takes a few minutes to pull. I often find it's actually faster overall to remove stuff in the way instead of working around it - but doing this for a living, have to streamline everything as much as possible.

Just reporting back in on what I found:

I MIGHT have gotten the blower motor out of my 1988325i M50 swap if I had taken off the Intake Manifold. It would never have come out without removing the manifold.

However, I was able to open the firewall cover and snake a small hose to the blower motor and put a drop of oil onto the bearings next to the fans. And: NO MORE SQUEAKING!

That's all I really wanted. I didn't need to change the motor. I just needed to oil the old one.
