what?
you can't use the sensors from an obd1 s50 on an s54. everything is different. you need to integrate or defeat many of the systems on the s54 to get it to work in an e30.______________________

Look on bimmerforums. The euro s50 has dual vanos. That is the only diffrence from the two that I see. It isnt plug and play but it is as close as you will get. I personaly hate bimmerforums so you can search for the thread and write up if you want.Comment

No the euro S50 DME is missing entire busses that the S54 requires to operate. Not to mention all S54s shipped with EWS3.1.
Show me an S54 running on any S50 DME euro or otherwise and I'll not only be impressed I might ask you some fun questions.
I've had a little practice working out the S54 into other chassis problems and it is nowhere near as simple as any of the other common e30 swaps.

Bimmerteck here is what the op said.
"instead i've used the euro s50b32 siemens mss50, with euro s50b32 engine harness. i also had to use a couple of s50 sensors.
i used this as it readily available here"
Personaly I would try this but due to the lack of funds and being in school kinda kills that plan.Last edited by e30s52; 05-27-2009, 08:38 PM.Comment

yes. you can use the mss50 s50b32 dme and harness to run the s54. It nothing new. the s54 is just an s50b32 w/ better flow characteristics. If i remeber correctly, all thats needed is the cam sensors, fuel rail and throttle conversion. I almost went that route, but found a standalone that can do the trick. cheers, jasonComment

Have you swapped an S54 into an E30 and used the stock DME though? I would imagine that aside from the wiring PIA it would run better than using the euro stuff. I have heard rumors of shops selling DME tuning that allows the stock DME to be run in E36s without issue, but nothing for E30s. Personally, I would prefer that route, but if the euro stuff actually works, that may work better.Comment

You and I both. If it is indeed possible to run stock DME or modded Euro S50 DME, and considering an S54 is aobut $4500 with all accessories and sometimes tranny too, this is a much better option than the S5x swaps. That is, as long as the electrical wizardry isn't outrageously expensive, it should provide better or equal hp/$ compared to an S5x swap.Comment

The S54 has a much more complex engine management wiring than OBD1 S50-S52. It requires the e46 dash cluster, the ABS module (speed sensor) etc. which is why most S54 swaps use aftermarket engine management. The Euro S52 is only down 21hp, and is easier to wire.Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.
