    Possible M54 swap

I have a '88 vert that I plan on swapping engine later in the future.

    My brother gave me his '02 330i 5spd w/ Active Autowerke S/C
A little history of the car. If I'm not mistaken this was one of the first 330s S/C'd by A.A. car was a full beast. After a couple of year S/C died and my brother left it in storage for a couple of years (he had e46 M3 Stg II S/C from active). I used to take out the car from time to time and the DME gets fried w/ 80k miles.

All in all we changed 3 DMEs, change wiring harness, put the car back to stock same problem. My personal mechanic is a BMW Tech in Taiwan cant figure it out and the BMW Dealership here in Costa Rica tried a couple of times w/ same problem.

Now my question is should I just take out the engine, tranny whatever accessories to swap in my e30 or should sell it to a BMW parts store that they offered me $6k for the car.

Correct me if I'm wrong everything should bolt right in w/o any modification with the exception of the electronics. If I do it I would try to get the EWS flashed out or go MS3 (best route?)

    What would you guy suggest?

    TIA

You would need a few mods like either a custom sub frame and oil pan or replace the oil pump and pan cause the sub frame will not allow the m54 to fit. I you would need motor mounts drive shaft and a few other things surf around and do your reaserch I have been researching the s4 swap for over a month and still am working on the research.
Float like a cadillac sting like a Bimmer!:)

Actually you can fab up a custom oil pickup and use a E34 M50 oil pan and it will fit fine. I think you are referring to the S54 swap.

        Thanks for the input.

I already have a e34 oil pan, sump, oil level sensor, dip stick and tube, and a new oil pan gasket. So I'll just need to fab up a pair of motor mounts? Do I need to modify the crossmember? Also, what do I need for driveshaft?

Sorry if everything is answered but I see answers for the s54 not sure if would be the same.

        TIA

I'm running an M54 swap for the past 3+ years now.

Besides a few minor differences with the dipstick tube all of the mechanical stuff is exactly the same as any other M50/S50 swap.

Same transmission options, exhaust, driveshafts, motor mounts, radiators, etc. The stuff that's different on the motor is up top, all of the mounting flanges are identical.
