    Euro header on S54 E30 M3

Has anyone tried to use the euro header on a swapped car? My concern is how the cylinder 6 header pipe curves towards the firewall. I'm running ebay headers now, but I would like something a little better quality. The paper thin stainless concerns me a bit.

    Pic for reference.

aren't they basically the same shape as US headers, sans the cats? or am I mistaken?

as far as quality - they can't possibly be worse than the junk sold on ebay.

You are correct that the #6 runner will hit the firewall. If you are very careful that runner can be cut and re-routed to allow clearance (I managed it..) but since each runner has it's own flange even the smallest amount of tweakage will make it difficult to align that flange with the studs.

It will also hit the subframe, where your best bet is to either cut a custom subframe or have your subframe notched.

As far as the quality, I've never had e-bay headers but the quality of the S50b32 headers is sublime.

Why not just run 2 fronts and make the corrections after the collectors? It will need custom fab'ing from the down pipes either way you go.

The #6 primary on US headers does not make an s-curve like the Euro headers. It appears that the s-curve would make it hit the firewall on an E30.

Check out a pic I took a while back:

You can see the #6 primary curves forward. I wasn't particularly impressed with the stock collector. The intersection of the three primaries are MIG welded flat, with the weld bead intruding in the exhaust flow path. I mean, it's great that the S54 got tubular headers, but there's a lot of power being left on the table with them (as well as Ebay headers, of course).

I know the euro headers on the euro S50 do touch the firewall. A little hammer work and it clears now. Don't know if that helps.
