S54 no start issue

Hi Guys!

i have a swaped s54 into my e30. I've had troubles with the dme, flashing it, etc...

finally, i bought a perfectly flashed dmd from frank smith, but my car only start when i spray fuel into the TB, then it runs perfect, idles great and keeps running!

I have 1 bosch 044 pump which is priming on ignition and when cranking, my FPR gauge reads 5 bar when cranking, so there is fuel, but no injectors opening on start up....

CPS is New and Cam sensors are new too...

any idea on what could it be?

That is EWS block. on mss54 it blocks the injectors only and it will run if you spray starting fluid. There is also relay only for injectors.

did frank give you a cable for flashing?

he did... but i preferred that he flashed the ECU on site and the shipped it to me... since i was in peru, i though that was the best way..

if you have a cable he should be able to update it remotely. I doubt he forgot to turn off EWS, but maybe it wasn't communicated properly.

Ill see what he says, if he tested the ecu before shipping, then i dont know what to say...

just ask him if the EWS was turned of and if not I'm sure he can fix it

just noticed that if i turn ignition off and on again, sometimes it will start...

so its not EWS for sure... but there something there, it should start ALWAYS, not randomly

Are you saying that it starts with starting fluid, but then keeps running on its own?

it's doing that because it's priming the fuel pump and injectors.

it would not run on it's own if it was EWS though, I missed that.

So... still having start issues... car will start after turning the ignition about 5 times.. weird huh?

this time im suspecting on the clutch switch, since my car is a pure race one, i don't have any switch down there, and i know m3's needs to press the clutch for the engine to start... my starter turns, since its wired directly, but should i feed the clutch signal on the ECU? now.. its ground or 12v? can't really understand the diagrams!

you don't need a clutch switch for an S54 swap. the only way it would stop the car from starting is if you'd installed the entire EWS system.
