    how to upgrade ix dif.

so i read some articles about putting the m3 e30 dif in the 325i but will you need 2 difs to do this with the ix?

    hmmm?

the M3 diff is the same as a 325i diff, it's just a 4.10 ratio

if you want a 4.10 ratio, get a set out of an automatic ix.

and yes, you do need two diffs for the ix and they both have to be the same ratios

What are the stock gear ratios for iX's? aren't they like 3.76 or something?

Autos are 4.10 and 5spds are 3.91 for 88-91, i think pre 88s might be different, as well as tourings.

and for the record, the front diff is not the same as the rear in case there was some confusion, it is a front only diff that bolts to the oilpan

I think tourings have the same gear ratios as late ix's (3.91/4.10)

early euro ix's got 3.64s for manuals and 3.73s for automatics
