I just did the first engine oil change since I bought my 1989 325iX. It took 5 quarts to fill including a new oil filter. The manual says 4.25 plus .25 more for the filter, but I'm thinking that is for a RWD 325i. I assume the oil pan is larger ( I know it has a different shape ). Does 5 quarts seem correct?

it actually has the same capacity as all other M20s (4.5 quarts) but due to oil starvation issues on M20s everyone uses 5.Comment

Oh shit! anyone wanna buy an M20 140k miles? lol. I was gonna tranfered oil pump from ix into "new" used motor and the oil pump would have to be tranfered using O rings but I guess I will be selling that motor

HA!! HAHA!! lolz. i just swapped a rwd m20 into my ix! with ix motor mounts. im about to go start it right now. stroked 2.7 turbo! not sure how well my oil system is going to work but it DOES fit. and you fail. the diff mounts to the OIL PAN not the block.
just make sure to swap intermediate shafts and of course the oil pan.

Very nice. Just thought I'd check, that was the only part that I wasn't sure about since I hadn't seen it done (definitely my lack of searching however)
From my iphone app I couldn't see your sig so couldn't see the build link and nowww I remember who you are. Love the build by the way. Keep it up.Comment
