Auto trans- Heat coming from shifter area

When Im driving my iX, I sometimes notice heat coming from under my gear selector. Sometimes its down right hot! Any one know if this is typical? Is my trans ready to explode? Just curious. I want it to make it till summer when I do my 5 speed swap. Thanks all.

transmissions get hot.

in the rx8 world, we joke that our cupholders (directly above the trans tunnel) have built in coffee heaters.

it's normal. my 5 speed gets hot during the summer too.

Thanks guys! I was getting a bit worried. I checked the fluid level and it was nominal, so I was a little confused. I know my trans is on its way out because of some hard shifting, and I was just hoping it would hold out till my swap.
