Will a G260 out of an '88 iX work in my regular E30?

Noob question, I know. Anyway, my transmission seized on me. My friend has a spare '88 iX G260. Casting numbers are the same from my trans and his. Will it work in my car?

im not sure why you would do this, as you can sell an ix transmission for $300-400 and you can buy a normal i transmission for $100-200.

you can swap them, but you have to swap out the back ends of the transmissions. its a lot of work and not worth it.

it will work fine, the ix trans still has the mount ears for the RWD trans brace.
