    VC production/availability?

*The ix viscous couplings are non-serviceable*

Are we working with just the number of VC units produced since '85 that have been maintained and/or recycled? There's no secret aftermarket TC fairies keeping these things in service or reman'd, right?

I'm really trying to find a good ix to invest into but I want to make sure that the benefits righteously outweigh the downsides of maintenance.

    Thanks.

well officially they are not serviceable but have been rebuilt both here in the PNW and buy a person in finland (finnish one failed we suspect due to wrong fluid or overfilling). but nobody wants to take on the warranty issues of rebuilding on a large scale. the unit if not badly damaged can be serviced with new seals available and the fluid though hard to source is out there (might have to mix to viscosites together ).i have one cut apart and have the seals already but havent spent a lot of effort tracking down the silicone fluid yet as the one in my IX is good so im rebuilding this as a spare someday

this is a long digest post but worth reading regarding rebuilding VC's

Can you really buy a new (reman) T Case for $1650? Or is that some sort of scam lol

I think it's $1850 because of the core charge

but yes, I think they're just a BMW dealer. I got some stuff for them that was really cheap.

at one point a reman t-case was only listed at $1250 or so. really wish I'd picked one up back then..
