i got the back part out from the diff. i got the big nut off on the hub and its supposed to pull right out, but i cant seem to get it out at all. i tried hitting it with a hammer to slide out easier, but still nothing. should i try something else?

ouch man. NEVER hit it directly with a hammer. You'll mushroom the end, and then you're screwed.
Can you still install the nut?
I always put the nut back on a few threads and then maybe the socket on top, then start whaling on it. PB Blaster or your favorite rust inhibitor to soak if it's REALLY stuck, and then anti-sieze when you re-install.

dude you should have talked to me. I've got a hub puller that works perfectly for the ix. woulda saved you a mushroomed CV end. :(
also when you put it back together clean all the splines with a wire brush, then lube with copper anti-seize. The last time I had my CVs out I pushed the shafts out of the hubs with my finger. :)
