you should use m52/54 intake manifold, it has throttle body under it, not like that one has in picture.

at the end of the day, I'd rather spend the money and just import an e34 IX from Europe, or at least make a really good effort to get one here. :(

I say turbo it. More power & tq and way less headache. We don't really have this (easy)option in Germany if it's to stay 'legal'. Of course, it's only illegal if someone notices.

Will a turbo only clear if it's over the top of the mani?? I wouldn't go huge power with an iX. I'd be more interested in the extra tq & response, so the turbo wouldn't need to be huge. Anyone??

why not huge power? torque breaks stuff, not HP..

I agree it's not worth doing for a smallish increase in power. S52 might be worthwhile. M50 - no way.

I'd never want to own a 525ix in the states - it's far more complicated than the E30 ix, parts are basically non-existant used, and super expensive new. At least you can rebuild an E30 transfercase - what are you going to do with a worn out 525ix transfercase? get another used, high miles, potentially dead one for $500+ shipping from germany? buy a new one for $3000?

I really want the responsiveness....i've had high HP DSM's that ceased being fun when they failed to spool before 3500rpm(yeah, relatively low but they were my DD's). I want full boost under 3k.

And Nando, there are quite a few e34 ix's in France. I've come across them often while looking for an E30ix.

IMO an m50 sounds cool but, in reality it's not worth it in a iX. Why not just build a solid m20?

sure, in france/germany/whatever, but they still made way less than 10,000 of them (I think I saw 5000-7000). so it's not like a 325e where there's literally 1+ million of them. there were well over 20,000 325ix's made. there might be what, 10 525ix's in the USA? likely far less.

I haven't looked in a month or so, but just try to find good condition, used 525ix CVs on german ebay. They almost don't exist. 325ix CVs aren't dirt cheap, but you can get them pretty easily.
