    Swap for iX????

New to the BMWs and a Euro fanatic at heart. Just wondering if the are any swaps one can do to the 325iX? I'm to understand the motors are specific via the oil pan pumps and what not, but are there any motor swaps or head swaps that can be done and keep usage of the AWD system? Let me know, Thanks

It has been done but lots of work. Basic answer is no.

You have to fabicate the ix oil pan together with the oil pan of the engine you are trying to swap in.

You would be better off swapping a rwd e30, or building up the m20.
Most bang for the buck is going to be starting with another car and swapping that.

You could go FI on the iX that would be the 'easiest' power mod for the ix. Do some research.

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

it can be done but it's not easy.

it would be cheaper to build up a 3.1L M20 with all the goodies than to do a swap the proper way. Much cheaper.

I'm a noob. What are all the M20 goodies and rough estimates on the costs?

Ha. There is a ton of info on this web sight, not just the ix forum. This is not a Chevy 350. There are no kits. If you got the coin get a stroker from metrc mechanic. If you don't have the coin start reading and you can start putting a junkyard turbo kit.

you can do a lot better than a MM motor. they're nice crate motors and are built for maximum reliability and to still pass emissions, but they aren't the most powerful you could build, certainly not for the cost.
