Will the Racing Dynamics reproduction headers fit the iX?

    As seen here:

Owner of the shop mentions the following:

"The headers are claimed to fit a right hand drive E30 and they do sweep back and hug the block pretty good. To be honest here in SoCal I have only worked on 1 Ix so I know they do have different shock towers and of course axles running to the front hubs.

I would say they will fit, the only question mark I have is will they clear the axles.

I have several fitment photos on my website if you want to check out some of those pictures to visualize fitment."

    Thanks all.

cool, thanks. will it require any fabrication, or not any more than it would to fit them to a standard 325i/is?

no offence, but those sucks.. too big collectors...
            i bought mine from speed-daddy.com

but quality isnt that what i want..
so im goin to make it myself, when it is time for that.

here is good way to do it..

We have build folk racing cars with my dad and we have usually made everything by ourself.. Head porting, intake manifold, exhaust manifold and gearbox.. Here is picture of our Mk2 escort rallycross car.. 220hp 240Nm with 2.0 litres and 48mm DCOE webers

So heres a little theory if you can understand my english..
BMW uses 1 - 5 - 3 - 6 - 2 - 4 firing order in m20 engines which is typical for inline-6 engines.. they also use 3-1 exhaust manifold instead of a 6-1 manifold. that simple, its hard to make 6-1 manifold.
Because most important thing in making manifold is its lenght..
every single pipe in manifold should be "nearly" same lenght..
i mean they should not be same lenght but they should be in 10-20mm compared to shortest to longest. Thats because
every pipe has resonance part compared to its lenght. and if your
every pipe is same lenght, it makes huge torque peak that last max 1k rpm area.. but when you have different lenghted pipes, peak is little lower but then its on wider rpm area..
when exhaust gasses leave cylinder head through exhaust valve,
it temperature start to fall immediately.. then it happens what it
does with every material, when talking about heat transfer..
the density and travelling speed starts to fall down..
and when exhaust valve closes, it makes vacuum behind gas "pillow"..
you can see temperature of this picture..

so about that vacuum behind gas pillow, or what it is called..
its has big role in collector..
collector has many other things than only collecting gasses together..
It decided how your exhaust gasses will flow on later part of exhaust.. if you make too big outlet pipe on collector, your exhaust speed will crash down. also if your collector joining angle is too soft, it will also crash... and vacuum behind gas pillow wont suck gasses from other cylinders like it should.
you can see from here what happens when your exhaust gasses
                    gets into bigger diameter place
In this tutorial, you will model a catalytic converter in order to determine the pressure drop and heat transfer through it when air enters the inlet at 25 m...

just search exhaust flow simulation to youtube.. theres some flow
                    measurement videos..
but how collectors should be done is..

yay! somebody else who's as much of a nerd about header design as me!

actually, you're a bigger nerd in this case, but that's a good thing :D

Also, i should mention the RD reproductions, and the ones you got are not the same - those are from china, and i agree the quality is not good.

The RD repro headers are actually made by RD in italy. Although they arent perfect, you wont do a whole lot better for the price.

it doesnt matter me how does it look outside.. exhaust is that kind of part that "interior" matters for me.. because i want to make it technically better

Granted this is not the first time we have looked at the OS Giken’s TC24-B1Z, but seeing it’s further been refined from last year’s Nostalgic 2 Days show, I thought I’d dedicate a little post to it as it’s simply, a work of art. It was back in the late seventies that Okazaki-san from OS …

heres manifold that looks pretty good by its shape and lenght.. collector is also pretty good
