are there any differences in a normal m20 clutch and flywheel vs. the IX clutch any flywheel? i see companies selling them specific, but im curious if its the same thing just marked up.

Real oem shows that the clutch disk itself is the same, but the pressure plate is IX specific. The flywheel looks to be the same dual mass as 325i dual mass flywheels. You could probably swap to a single mass 325i flywheel though and run all 325i components. -

yes clutch disc is the same but the pressure plate is stronger (almost same pressure as M3) hence the different part #, some have used a standard 325i clutch w/ no issues.
the IX didnt used the dual mass flywheel ,its just the same as a standard 325i alsoAngus

It's already a single mass. Everything physically appears to be the same as my other m 20 clutches, I just wanted to make sure there isn't anything I'm missing. I've actually got an 8lb flywheel, with a spec stage 3 6puck, in my IX and It's working just fine.Comment

Originally the ix pressure plate was slightly stiffer, but i believe they merged part numbers.
In any case, its definitely single mass and standard parts work fine.Comment
