iX skirts removal, surprise under there

I am going to be removing my iX flares and skirts this summer for a full repaint of my car, was wondering what kind of surprises i can expect to find under there..?

keep an eye underneath the front fenders. if they are original, they have a tendency to rot out under there. I had to replace both of my fenders when i did a respray....the rust wasn't apparent until the flares were removed.

and how bad was the rear arches, i already know that my rocker has holes, but the bigger job would be the rear fenders, which i hope i dont have to!

when i pulled my flares my fenders were destroyed and the rockers were pretty bad but surprisingly my rear arches were not all the bad, they just needed sanded and filled.

there are some of those, but i think for the side skirts. i assumed you were talking about the ones that go into the green inserts that go into the holes in the fenders.

this is how i took the fender flares off:

first, i used a carpet knife to cut the foam tape between the body and flare. by looking at the back of the flare, you can see that the connectors are slotted into the plastic. i just rotated the flare on the arch in the direction to unseat them from their mounts. this left all the connectors in the body and released the flare. i also dumped some baby powder in between where the flare and body meet so i wouldn't have to compete with adhesive from the tape. it worked pretty good and i didn't break any clips. seems like i had to take the bumper off if i remember right.

for the a13011, you can take a punch and push the little center dowel piece through the connector and the outer mushroom portion will just slide out of the hole.

Use the tape. It does much of the work holding it on and also seals it. You put them on after finished paint, not over primer. The flares should be painted off the car.

Put the tape on the flares, pull just enough of the backing so you can grab it, clip them to the car, line it up, then pull the backing strip. The paint should be clean when you do this.
