Auto to Getrag 5 speed difficulty?

How hard would it be to swap a 5 speed into a auto car? Theres a pretty decent iX where I live for sale for 2 grand... 91' 4 door iX with 200k on it. I have no clue on any of the details but I am really wanting to pursue this one. Thanks guys...

It's just bolting on parts really. Just have to have the right parts.

It's always easier to keep saving pennies, and buy a vehicle closer to what you want, then to start out on a swap.

Do you have the tools, the space, and the time to do they swap?

Planning out my 5-speed swap currently. RealOEM has part diagrams and part numbers to help you obtain everything. For me, i have to have EVERYTHING ready to go, because my car is my daily driver.

it's about the same as doing the clutch on a manual car. you do have to swap pedals, install the MC and some minor wiring. should basically take a weekend to do.

Parts sourcing is the most tedious part of the swap for an ix. Seems like there are more plentiful part-outs these days though.

the only ix-specific part you need is the trans, shifter and transfercase. there's nothing else to convert - install the MC, slave, pedals, and wiring.

It took me four months and two junk transfercases to get one 'as described.' Just my .02
