    Spare Tire

Is there any point of carrying one if my spare isn't EXACTLY the same as the wheels and tires on the car? Does anyone just do the repair kit/pump?

I see a point. The spare is not supposed to be a replacement, hence the small donuts most cars have. It an "in case of emergency tire." So to me even if it is smaller, it will at the very least get me home.

our cars came with a basketweave 15" stock as the spare tire

I recommend putting a stock weave with a tire similar in size so it will fit on any corner of your iX if you get a flat.

Running with one tire a different diameter can put a lot of stress and heat into the VC's in the transfer case and rear diff.

Carry a full size spare, the same size as the other four, preferably the same brand/model as well to be sure that it's the same rolling diameter.

Not sure if it's just me, but I'd rather call a flatbed than do that.

if it's like 2% smaller it's not going to make a difference for a short drive home or to a tire shop. if it's 10% smaller then you have the wrong sized tires anyway.

I'd put it on the front so you don't also stress the rear VC though.

Okay thanks! Mine is close, its a 14"bottle cap but with a odd tire size, I'll take a look and see how close it is.

OTHER question I have is if I ruined 1 tire (sidewall clipped a brick under snow on my building parking lot and now it has a bulge) Do I have to replace all 4 tires now? The other 3 have about 60% life in them.

Some will say yes, or at the very least replace two. For me id prob just do 1, but understand why at least 2 are recommended.
