IX auto not shifting into gear?

Hey, so I just came into a cosmetically-good 325ix. Motor runs well, though it's been sitting. One of my coworkers bought it with a rebuilt transmission that he put in (I work as a mechanic) but couldn't get it to work, so he gave it to me.

You can shift into any gear and nothing changes. Throttle input does nothing. All linkages are hooked up. It does leak a bit of fluid, but the fluid levels were good.

Has no front driveshaft, either, so it's 2WD right now. I assume the TC is bad.

Friend and I think it might be the valve body or pump. Anyone else have any ideas?

Does it still spin the flex disk in between the transfercase and transmission.. get a flashlight and check I bet you just need a front driveshaft in there
My ix right now won't move an inch without the front driveshaft in, never new why(it does rock the car a little)

if the front diff is disconnected and the car doesn't move, unless the trans is 100% shot the VC must be dead.

The automatic cars don't have a flex disk between the two... integrated transfer case. This is different than the way the stickshift setup works, of course.

        Ditto.

Put it on jack stands and watch the front output of the T-case... if it turns when the trans is in gear, then your trans is fine but your VC is shot.

On the plus side, if that's the case, pop a driveshaft into it an it will probably move (unless the splines are worn away...)

VC? It's probably something obvious but I can't remember what it could be.
