    Offset

What is the highest/ lowest offset you have seen on an IX? How wide of a tire have you fit or have seen fit.
    Stock: 205-55/15 15x7 et38
    Now: 235-40/17 17x7.5 et35

I still have room in my wheel wells so I would like to go a little smaller and a little wider.

    Thoughts on 16x8 et25?

In the front i have 17x7 or if it was 7.5 hmm...anyway they are ET38 but im using 5 lug with E87 hubs so it should translate to ET28 roughly for a stock setup and it fits fine with 215/45-17"

no, ET25 won't work for an 8" wheel. it's too low - 8" wheels are tricky to fit right, and a 245 is going to be really tight. that tire will be too tall as well.

im pretty sure that ix auto with the avid wheels that sold on ebay a few months back was running 16x8 et 25. It would be close but I think et 25 will fit on an 8 inch wheel...

they will "fit" but the tires will stick out past the fenders. you won't fit a 245 on there like that without a ton of rubbing.

an 8" wheel is just pushing it - it has to be close to ET30 (give or take a mm or two) which is a really tight range. Too high and it hits the struts. too low and it rubs on everything else.

also, how much power do you have? I ran a 235/50R15 R888 which is probably 250mm wide in reality. It was fun and looked badass, but the reality is a 225 suits the car a lot better. the wider tire has a lot more weight, takes longer to warm up, and isn't as responsive. then add in the additional cost per tire and the fact that the car will follow every single rut in the road.

I'm with nando here, a 245 probably won't work. A 8" rim works but you have to run a smaller tire with stretch.

I really what to buy these and make them fit on the ix, machine 5 lug hubs and pull the fenders a bit. Think it could work?

no way. the 5 lug hubs stick out even more than 4 lugs do, the offsets are really low, and they are super wide. they'd probably stick out 3" - you're not going to be able to pull the fenders that far..

I guess I was thinking it'd be a little more involved haha. The rears shouldn't be nearly as much trouble as the fronts. For the front I can machine my own 5 lug hubs and broach the center splines. Should be able to make them with a slightly narrower profile than stock to help with the low offset in the front. With the 8.5" width in the front and 13et puts the edge of the rim 3.738" offset from the hub face. I could skim the hub face on the wheel to increase the offset of the wheel itself, nothing too crazy that it would make it unsafe. With the fenders pulled as much as they can be without messing up the body lines hopefully the lip of the rim will fit. With all the modifications to get the wheel to fit in the fenders the inside rim is going to be hitting the struts. Honestly I'm not trying to fit the widest wheel possible I just really like the look of these wheels, they're beautiful. That being said it would actually be really simple to cut them apart and remove an inch out of the width to make them not hit the struts. I'm a lot more comfortable with machining than I am with body work haha, a wide body ix just doesn't appeal to me. *sips beer :) If it worked it would be perfect I'd probably never think about another set of wheels, but if it didn't I'd feel really bad for mucking up an original set of e24 alpinas haha

I'm really trying to see how to fit a 245 on all 4 corners. 16x8. What needs to be done, offset, and fender massaging

No need to be sorry. If you can figure out a way to make this 5 lug and get me a 245 or larger under there by all means thread jack away. Haha

it can fit but it's still going to rub in certain circumstances. I'd start with a higher offset wheel and use spacers to adjust. I recommend getting a stud kit.

here were the 235s.. they're about as wide as a 245 street tire.

it barely fit. I have 15x7.5 wheels I think ET36, with a 3mm spacer up front.

I'll reiterate that the car is better on 225s..
