yeah, and you don't really need a custom driveshaft or CV shafts - the E34 CV shafts can be made to fit into the E30 strut housings/hubs, and the E30 driveshaft bolts up to the E34 diff.

Would it be a ton of work? you bet! would it be simpler than engineering a diff from scratch? definitely.

BTW, for my frankenpan I'm going to have to keep the diff aligned with the front driveshaft, but that won't really be that hard. that's part of why I need one for mock up purposes. It has to be assembled so that the diff lines up but it really shouldn't be that hard.

It is defenetly an easiest job than a new custom carrier, it's just cause I really want an LSD front diff

I will be very surprise if you can place the e34 diff at the position that you don't need to do a new front driveshaf. The diff is bigger and the cv have have to be at the align to this. So probably that te front driveshaft will be to long. I heard that the e34 cv axle didn't fit to the e30, sorry if it's my mistake

My point is that I think that adding 2 more spiders gear on the oem diff will be easier.

      My opinion

How do you add more spider gears? There's no space in there.

There's space. I think you cave to cut the spider gear cage open, put the gears in, and weld it back together.

And BTW, E34 cv shafts pretty much fit perfectly into the E30 with some minor mods, assuming you also have the matching diff anywy..
