    Installing engine harness

hey dudes. I Forgot the routing for the oil level/pressure sensors when i took the original harness out a few months ago. Do I route it in front of the timing cover or under the trigger wheel to the right side of the engine? I do remember taking off the ac bracket to remove it. Thanks

I don't think the ix would be different so that would go in front of the timing cover.

I routed mine (today) right on the timing cover where the little holes for the wire cover are. I zip tied it to the arm that holds the cps. I do remember it going behind the ac bracket, which I don't have now.

I rewrapped most of this engine harness and now my ix doesn't start! Bs! So now I play the guessing game, is it the eBay harness or did I miss something? Cranks, fuel, but no spark.

time to get out your volt meter and etm.

so you changed the harness from an ix of the same year or did you use a rwd harness?

i changed the engine harness on my 88 ix with one from a 91 ix. unfortunately, when i hook up the battery, the starter spins continuously without engaging. i have not had the chance to trouble shoot, but my bet is that the wires don't match at the c101.

to the op: yes, those wires run across the front of the timing cover and under the bracket for the ac compressor.

I put in a rwd engine harness (from an 89 sedan I think) and extended the oil level sender wires. It runs exactly the same as before. Starts quickly, pulls hard, hiccups at 4500rpm. Blueapplesoda said he experienced this before, like jlevie, and said the issue surrounds the cps and harmonic balancer. He said megasquirt will fix the issue, because it is more sensitive and can read through the noise that's causing the oem dme to drop the signal. In fact, they even have a little adjustment knob on the board that you can play with for fine tuning cps signal reading. He also can make custom engine harnesses. So at least I have my options.

I have another brand new cps and another harmonic balancer I'll be putting in though. If these 2 parts don't fix it, I'll be sending blueapplesoda a loooooot of money. or attempting to build one myself. But I'm not fully confident in my soldering, so ehhhh.

edit: so I guess the ebay harness is trash. Not sure how, but there it is.
