I think I've changed my mind. Leaning toward the Yugo conversion. I only drive to the cigarette store and back on Sundays.

Too heavy to get 100mpg. But you might consider a VW Bug engine and transaxle for a mid engine set up. 35hp is about all you need.

I have rescued a lot of BMW cars from oblivion - almost everyone I have had, actually. I'll end up getting rid of the walrus front end geometry and putting a RWD set-up in, as this is too nice of a body to scrap. Its been in my garage for ten years and is from Colorado. Not completely rust free, but pretty nice.

Had no idea there was so much latent hate out there for Saabs. I'll keep such impure thoughts to myself next time.

I don't think its particular hatred towards Saab but the potential loss of another IX rustles our jimmies.

Obviously your flame suit wasn't rated for this level of flaming.

If you want to do it, do it:). I don't particularly like Saabs, but I don't hate them either. But wouldn't it be a better idea to get something that is more supported? I think there aren't many Saabs out there and there isn't really even a company any more so it seems like it would be better if you gutted it and put in an LS1 or something.

I'll take all of your extra pieces if you do the conversion;).

Go with a Nissan Skyline GTR drivetrain... it's still an inline 6!

Flaming aside, I would be amazed if a saab drive-train could fit in an e30. Saab's have a bit of front overhang ahead of the front axle line to accommodate the in line engine's position above the transmission. e30's? Not so much.
