    Trouble Selling My ix

So I'm curious, I'm having some trouble selling my ix. I was wondering if theres a reason? I'm seeing a lot come up for sale, but I dont see whats particularly wrong with mine, I know auto's are less preferred etc etc. But what are they going for now? 4 months ago I bought mine for what I considered a fair price, now selling it at the same price seems impossible. Anyone else notice this?

Supposedly someones coming to take it for 3500 without the subs on Sunday. We shall see. Got two really low balled offers at 2500. Considering them just to get some of my money back. Paid quite a bit more for her, didnt plan on breaking even, just thought it was worth upwards of 4 at least. Now I wont even break even for the 944 I bought. Oh well, need it gone I guess. Odd market when the snow disappears?

Guess I'm letting her go for 3500? Suppose thats fair enough. Strange how fast these depreciate once the snow goes away. Oh well.

do you really need to sell it ASAP? I would hold out a bit for somebody who really wants an ix. they are rare but keep in mind the population of people that even knows what they are, much less desire one, is quite small.

Yeah, I already bought my next car assuming it would go quick since it was so well taken care of. I dont have the space or ability to take care of two cars and now I'm out 4k+. Bad situation to be in when you're on a very fixed income.

At this point I'll take an offer over 3200 and a PS3 80 or 60 gb for my brother. And I NEED it gone by Wednesday.

I would have never trashed your for sale thread, but I remember seeing it when it first posted and really found it unlikely you would find a buyer anywhere near the original $4700.

I look around in the various classifieds and it seems that everyone is bent on selling more or less stock E30's for 2 to 3 times the book value because they have seen other cars go for that not taking into account factors such as geographic area, previous work done to the car, inside sales (i.e. people buying cars from other forum members or friends that know the full history of the car). Not that there is anything wrong with trying and if they find a buyer good on them.

I think you are correct that with the snow gone AWD isn't as much of a selling point in the NE. But also consider that the things you have come to accept of your car (missing glove box, rust/rot starting, cut springs, worn weather seals, auto-magic tranny, etc... are going to be much more evident to a prospective buyer. Conversely fancy speakers, subs and decks will probably not equate to much additional value to the average buyer.

I feel like my car is pretty clean and free of idiosyncracies until I let someone else drive it and then I realize there are a lot of very small issues I tend to overlook because I have come to accept the car for what it is. Potential buyers will always pick up on and zero in on what is wrong and begin subtracting dollars from an offer they are willing to make.

No disrespect or anything intended, I just felt like weighing in. Good luck with the sale and have fun with your Porsche.
