Shaved body moldings?

Has anybody shaved the side moldings, and if so any pics? Searching didn't bring anything up, but the thought has crossed my mind since the car is in the process of bodywork now.

I know I've seen a pic somewhere, but it's been a while since I last saw it.

You should shave the door keys and antenna too and just get a keyless entry system.

Jordan did it to his car quite some time ago, I'm sure others have as well over the years. It was a common trend in VW world.

I believe it would look more like an M3, but I wouldn't be caught dead re-badging it In fact thinking of dropping the 325es for a cleaner look.

Thought about it, but I really don't want to eliminate the lock and/or handles. Probably going to have the bumper covers (between the chrome and body) and mirrors painted body color (possibly black mirrors).

I have time to decide, but really need to get on the ball if I'm going to be doing all that welding :D

I wouldn't trust that much filler, would you? Cut strips of sheet metal and weld it in, then grind and fill as little as possible.

Agreed. I actually like that better than eliminating them all together. :D

I really dislike the chrome.

Speaking of chrome, also have been thinking about changing the windshield/rear window moldings, but that's later :(

I shaved mine on my first e30 years ago.



I welded a piece of metal all the way down the whole door and then used fiberglass filler then bondo.

What did you use to keep the body step equal-distant, or when you look close can you see varying depth between the body lines? I definately don't want to taper body filler from the top to the step in the body, must be as much metal as possible...
