I'm going to start to post my progess on my car. I bought this 87 325is for a decent price. Mechanically its pretty good, except for locks, horn and a leaky fuel line.
I'm pretty new to bodywork, been good with everything else so far, going to dive right into it appreciate any help and advice.
What I plan to do is.
1) fix the rust
2) Shave side moulding and antenna
3) Prep for paint
4) Roller paint job (maybe)
Here is the car

The rust, god damn cdn roads. Seems mostly in the rear.

It's nice when the GF can help you scrap the undercoating off. Notice where the shop light hangs :(

Before you start sanding remove the grease and wax. Take a rag and wipe it down with mineral sprits. Changes rags/shop towels often or you will just end up spreading it around.
Started sanding, intially with a 400 grit wetsand, but it doesn't really cut into the clear coat that well or evenally. I find a light 220 wet sand really gets all the clear off evenly, and follow it up with a 400 wet sand its also faster. You can really feel like you've stripped off the nasty clear coat and all its impurities. I use a squirt bottle with a drop of dish soap. This helps move the paint and cleans out the oils trapped.
Sideskirts can be done indoors with TV close by.

Started to bring the tailights back to life, toothpaste works well.

Coat of tremclad black on the sideskirts.

Fill in the chips with glaze.

Pretty bad gap in the rear

seems to be rivited onto the bumper? causing the sag?

After cleaning a load of yellow shit in the trunk, caused by battery gases I'm assuming. Need to finish and flat black it.

Doesn't the front end remind you of the 69 camaro.

here is the hood after 220, try to sand in opposite directions to get a cross hatch.

This part had little cracks, so I sanded it down to the primer then reprimered it back up and feathered the edges.

Here you see the hood, the part closest is 400 wetsanded and the middle on is 200 you can feel the difference. The flash brings out the scratchs like crazy it doesn't really look like this. Also you can see what the glaze putty looks like after sanding down.

Need shielding gas, anyone in montreal know where to get it without a liscense, only need a small bottle.
