I would like to do an E46 -> E30 retrofit.. i REALLY like the rear window pop out in my E46.. that car has electric motors though...... Very handy for 80-90 degree weather.

Famous last words. In what I read, even installing the stock assembly was a pain in the ass (I still can't find the thread/remember if it was an E30/E36).

i used them all last summer, when i was at school, as an alternative to cracking my windows. the only problem was, when i would go to shut them, i would often rest my face on the very hot B pillar lol

I thought there was a kit for them? I seem to remember someone on E36-Tech (Hodge maybe?) that got ahold of some sort of electric kit for the E30 popouts. It may have been for the E36, though.

Either way, they're rare as fuck (the electric kits).

I have them on my 89. It's a non-airbag. I love them definitely came in handy during hot Florida summer and no ac. I hit 100 on the highway and they didn't close x).

I loved them yesterday. No AC and the weather was kindy of crappy for leaving the window open all the way.

Definitely look at Dodge Caravan's for the motor system. The late 90's models had them with a switch in the front for activation. Should be easy to wire up in the consol and then you can adjust the level of open-ness too.

So, do the cars w/o pop-out glass have the mounting points on the c-pillar for the pop-out glass? I think the front end of the glass mounts the same, but the rear I am not sure?

Is this a plug and play swap?
