    Smoke paint on Chrome?

I had an idea to take some of the paint used to smoke tail lights and such, and use it on the the kidney grill. I had black kidneys before and its a bit much, but a shiny smoked chrome I think would be cool.

Would this work, or would it be too dark?
Can some one p shop a pic for me?

The process? Hold can, hit nozzle, spray on object.

It can be used on anything, the question is do you want to use it? It reduces light output, and looks quite shitty. On headlights, it will make them dimmer and it will chip off the glass quickly. On tails, it looks like you bought those smoked covers that go over the lights like Mustang owners buy. It just never looks right.

you can mix a drop or two of black paint with clear coat and spray it with a normal spray gun

I tried it several years ago, it lasted about a week before it all came off.

Was it cleaned properly? Why does this stuff not stick? How about sprayin the smoke, then a couple coats of clear. I'm sure it can be made durable. Its not rocket science.

Paint does not bond to chrome well. Putting a clear ontop of the smoke won't make any difference, the smoke will still fall off the chrome.

I imagine if you scuffed the chrome up a little with a brillo pad, it would stick a lot better. But since you ant it shinny, it might make it look dull and bad.

                            Scuffing doesn't help.
