    Rock Auto Fenders

I have my 88 325iX Coupe in for a repaint and it looks like the rust in my front fenders is terminal. In searching the internet I found replacement front fenders from Rock Auto for much less than anywhere else. Any opinions on them?

I want something with OE quality and fitment, but if I can pay half the price, I certainly will.

I can't get the website to give me a direct link, but it is RockAuto.com, then just the part search for 41351979483 and 41351979484.

    I appreciate the help.

I have no experience with the Rock Auto parts, but would suggest surfing CL for parts cars, or going junkyard searching. I sold fenders from my 325iS for 20 bucks a piece.

maybe i'm just a noob, but i see no reason why the iX front fenders would be different than any other e30.

IX front fenders probably have the holes predrilled for the OEM fender flares^

I don't have the time to waste or the desire to try to correct a junkyard fender when I can buy new ones for $50 each.

The car is at the body shop for a repaint and rust repair. I'm already spending the money, I might as well do it right.

If only they had doors this heavily discounted.

I found some other reviews online that trended positive. I'll post on how the new fenders work out.

I can't speak to the quality of replacement body panels from Rock Auto, but I have bought quite a few other parts from them without any problems. Mainly parts for a Toyota I used to have.

I selected the convertible model and it listed fenders... but then says "except convertible".... that's real helpful.
If they had convertible fenders I would have bought them right away, I haven't had any luck finding any for the past few weeks in my area.
            Thanks,
            Matt

I can't speak for their body panels either but i do plan to purchase a new fender from them for my e30, i have purchased thousands of dollars worth of parts from them and have only had 1 issue with saab strut mounts, their parts are extremely affordable they ship quickly (shipping is a little pricey) and they will gladly replace or refund bad parts if/when you ever get any.. please let me know how the rock auto replacement fender works out because like i said i plan to buy one from them

another good thing about them, they are constantly sending me 5% discount codes through email which is not much but a nice gesture

Well they are stamped abroad and if they are like most they will leave much to be desired due to they don't line up well.

Rather have a used or a new oem fender. Best of luck with em post up the finished product.

ix fenders and coupe/sedan fenders are the same. When i repainted my car, i bought used ones w/o the holes. U can either just adhere the flares or redrill new holes.

btw one of the used fenders i have is non-OEM, and the fitment is a bit off where the fender meets the thin metal area below the headlight. It was small enough where it doesn't bother me, but I'd stick with OEM.

here you can barely see the gap difference between the pass and drivers. Passenger side is the aftermarket fender. Up close, it doesn't fit snug over the thin area below the headlight. Also has a weird indentation. The OEM drivers fender fits as it should.

I got aftermarket fenders when I did my car and I think it was a big mistake. If I did it again I would go with used oem. But sometimes you get lucky with them those aftermarket ones, in my hand I didn't haha. I think they were from eBay or something.

OEM fenders are hard to find in good shape up here, and people don't like being hassled with shipping large items.
So if the above pictures are of a rock auto fender, for 50 bucks thats hard to beat!

I can speak from experience here. I bought two aftermarket fenders for my car. The pass side fit horribly and rusted out in a couple months of use (winter). I would never buy a new fender again unless it was oem. Bought a used one for cheap, and it fit perfect, no issues. Sure, it's mismatched from the Rest of the car, but I'd rather have that then a crooked body panel. Oh, and OP, if you need the drivers side fender, I think I still have it brand new in the box. I'll give it to you for free, just pay shipping. Worth a shot if you insist on aftermarket fenders!

Ps, to get the one fender on, it took LOTS of massaging. The inside ridges didn't line up with the chassis at all. I had to customize it a little. Let me know if you want to try it!

Oh, and the one I have is for a 325/318 non vert. Not IX specific, but as he posts above say, it should fit, just no flare holes.
