Also tried Turtle rubbing compound and that scratch up paint in my e46. Never want to use that.
Paint on my e30 is clean not oxidize.

For your current car, I'd go with a clay bar, be careful and use a lot of lube, then just hand wax it with soft cloths. Locally, kragen (O'reilley's) sells these really, really soft white cloths that are great. However, the edges will mar your paint, so be careful of those. Buy a bunch and only use the centers. These will absolutely not work when cleaning up quick detailer when you're clay barring your car though, since they don't absorb at all. You'll need a drying microfiber for that. If you have minimal swirls and marring over the whole car I'd honestly not really bother it unless you're really determined and willing to do the whole thing well, because otherwise you can waste a lot of effort and it may not look any better (and could easily look worse). The first car I ever rode in was an e30

Check this guys write up.
Alot of good info. I used his method on 3 different cars and they have turned out beautifully. All in everything cost me about $200 and was well worth it considering I can do about 5 cars before I run out of polish.
I have been very happy with the quality of meguiars products.
Be prepared to set aside 6-8 hours if you are going to do it right.
1.wash
2.clay
3.rougher polish
4.finer polish
5.nxt protector wax/polish.
prep your car properly with painters tape!

Clay will just take a lot of the dirt and impurities out of the top layer of paint.
To make it have that deep, rich luster, it needs to be machine polished. I use Megauires Diamond Cut for cutting compound, Megauires swirl remover for a polish (the most important step on paint correction, most don't realize this) and Megauires #21 Synthetic Sealant for a sealant, then a nice wax of your choice.
For what it's worth, the red car in my signature had an extensive paint correction last spring. I think it took about 15-20 hours to make it look real nice.Last edited by e30austin; 04-08-2013, 12:25 AM.'70 911s | '72 2002 | '88 M5 | '89 330is | '89 M3 | '95 911 | '02 M5 | '04 RR HSE
