cabrio 3rd trunk braking light

I was planning to convert my trunk to the is trunk but I have a cabrio and it has the 3rd light. Is that 3rd light necessary in the state of California?

yes and no. you wont get pulled over for it but it is supposed to be there.

i hate the 3rd brake light on my cabrio as well. its horrendous, ive been trying to find a cheap lachssilber trunk or have been comtemplating filling in the hole, but i have no body experience. if i ever removed my 3rd brake light i doubt any cop would ever notice unless they know their cars.

I did the is trunk swap and haven't gotten pulled over .. Depends if the cop want to be a dick and wants a reason to pull you over .. Just do it lol you will love the look ..

Yes, it's illegal but cops will rarely stop you for lack of a 3rd brake light. If you do delete it, you will have to wire in a resistor in place of the bulb or something to turn off the rear check light on your overhead panel. I have considered doing this myself but my vert isn't a common color so I would have to get the panel painted.

that just something i dont want to do make something illegal on it cause cops out here in so cal are dicks all around and notice the dumbest shit, and if i do come threw with it, what resistor do you know of?
