you probably won't get all of it off.. but simple green is the only thing that seemed to penetrate into it without damaging anything else (castrol superclean penetrated but also fucked up the color of my intake manifold). I probably soaked my engine bay 5-6 times to get it the way it is now, and there's still a little bit left. I could scrub it but the paint underneath is really soft so it comes off really easily.

hmm is i can just get it off the really noticable area's, im going to do the meguires 3 step wax system on the engine bay once its all clean to make it not look dull when im done.

it doesn't work very well on 15+ year old hardened cosmoline. I tried it, and it's expensive. :)

Ugh... So much work DAMNIT!!! its like they forgot to turn off the cosmoline spray when they did my engine.....i did it little here little there, maybe i could satisfy myself somewhere and get some cosmoline off...but it stays. everysingle peice of rubber, plastic, wire...everything is just covered in yellow. I LOVE COSMOLINE......and that valve cover is after 2 hours of steel wooling with nitro fuel for RC cars....:curse:

              I'll vouch for that :)

Though the SETA I just yanked the engine out of is arguably just as bad...

With the engine out, how can I clean up the engine bay? There really isn't much cosmoline, so a good cleaner should do.

I tried Castrol Super Clean, and it was a no go today.

I'm gonna pick up some simple green tomorrow, and hopefully get our pressure washer working! :)

purple power all the way. I've tested both

                      simple green
                      purple power
                      grease lighting

purple power is by far 1000% times better than all of the other products.

we have this problem with old era guns. Aks and Russian weapons. The trick is use Colman white gas. It comes right off with that and its cheap. Find it at walmart and such...
