    E30 widebody options

    Hi guys,

I'm doing a V8 swap in my car and once I'm finished, I expect to need much more tire than I currently have. So far my options are:

    1. Fender flares
    2. Ridiculously expensive widebody kits (not such a fan of the price)
    -or-
    3. http://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?t=67418

Has anyone ever seen this done on an e30? Maybe I haven't searched hard or good enough, but I found nothing.

This guy's finished product ended up looking pretty good on his e28... but I've got an early model car, not sure how that would look with the diving boards. Thoughts?

I built some metal front fenders over the winter for the race car. Had done fiberglass before, but wanted to give this a shot.

Rears are still fiberglass, but i'd like to re-do those over the winter.

I have the ESM flares. They make my 235s look like im running bottlecaps. FWIW you can run 245s in the rear and 235s up front with stock fenders and a healthy roll.

That looks good but why not just get fiberglass DTM M3 fenders? They'd be lighter and easily replaced. If anything happens to these, you'd have to recreate them.

Agreed that it's a bitch to re-build them if they get damaged, and it's bound to happen on a race car, but these cost me a 40$ scrapyard fender, some welding wire, and grinding disks. More of just a fun project for me, We'll see how long they last.

Yes, I have looked at those... but $1100 is money I'd rather not spend on the body, know what I mean? Maybe in the future, I'd consider their 'obsession' kit, but that's like $5k and I've got too much in the car for now.

Like the steel ones you guys are doing. Fiberglass on the other hand is garbage. IMO
