Thanks man. That was a quickie 1 week job start to finish. It came out pretty nice but if you want a really nice job you've got to take a little more time than that to let the materials (filler, primer, etc.) gas out so you don't get shrinkage down the road. Yes shrinkage! I spent a good 6 months on the e30 but that is heads and shoulders better than the jetta. If you're serious about doing it, you should check out the paintucation DVDs with Kevin Tetz. Lots of great info in there to get you going.

Alright I'll look for them and see what they got I'm hoping to spend a month tops on the whole paint process maybe more if needed.

I have an insider hook up on a re-spray for my car. If I strip all the mouldings off and have them put in a new core support (I supply the parts) and have them do all the dent and ding repair, they quoted me $700 total. Hell yes I am...

Eastwood is good stuff. I used a couple of their primer products on my car, both the dtm epoxy and urethane. Can't beat it for the money. We've also shot a couple cars with their urethane top coats. Decent results, but not as good as a mid level base/clear from dupont IMO.

that's about right depending on your region I am from Hawaii and had a car repainted black, paint and body work was $5k. I live in Houston texas and the price are way less there are a lot of good painters here and I have seen individuals paint cars here for $2k and get awesome paint jobs.

I used their epoxy primer over the bare metal and urethane primer for finishing and blocking before sealer. Also used Evercoat's feather fill high build polyester filler primer to help get everything straight before final primer. I honestly don't remember what I used from Dupont. It was just their production level stuff, nothing crazy. I really like the Eastwood stuff tho, great quality for the money.
