VIS carbon fiber hard top....check it out

just found this while browsing the old ebay. looked interesting so I thought I would throw the idea around here. does anybody have one or ever seen one???? I emailed VIS yesterday and asked if they ever produced a CF hard top for an e30. I don't expect a reply, but hey what can you expect from a "add these spark plugs and gain 15 hp!" kind of retailer....

Someone should highlight to VIS that e30 cabs are not allowed at any BMW Club HPDE in North America due to the lack of roll-over protection.

I am pretty sure it is a very nicely done product. I just don't think that the pretentions are legit...

the seller says he gets a special product line directly from VIS.....I just thought it might be nice to completely ditch the folding assy. and put in a cage with a CF roof.... might save a little weight....now to just reinforce the rear and remove the convertible's bath-tub....

I was not discussing the product itself, but rather how it is "marketed"

I already know that VIS is covering itself by having the customer agree he is loosing all his rights by entering their website. But that's another discussion.

VIS RACING STATES THAT THESE CARBON FIBER HARD TOPS DO NOT COME WITH INSTALATION INSTRUCTION, AND THAT THEY ARE TO BE INSTALLED AT A BODY SHOP. THEY FURTHER STATE THE BODY SHOP WILL KNOW HOW TO FABRICATE THE MOUNTING HARDWARE AND WEATHER SEALS. THESE ARE DESIGNED FOR CONVERTABLE APPLICATIONS. THEY ARE DESIGNED TO ACCEPT OEM SIZE REAR GLASS. VIS RACING RECCOMENDS LEXAN BE FABRICATED TO FIT REAR WINDOW AS BEST OPTION, BUT NOT ALWAYS NECCESSARY.
