Mtech 2 valence on plastic bumper early model

I am collecting parts for a plastic bumper conversion on my 87 vert and I am planning on mounting a replica mtech 2 valence on the back to cover up the spare tire well. Before i buy it i was wondering what is the best way to mount it to the car? I was planning on just bolting it to the rear bumper but there isint much space to do that. If anyone who has experience with this could give me some advice or point me to a useful thread what would be much appreciated.

im almost positive youre going to have to weld on a late model rear valance. i THINK it has different mounting points for the bumpers etc.

ya thats what i was thinking. i was planning on doing that till i got a rear bumper and saw that there isint a consistent lip all around the bottom to mount it to. and if i welded on a late model valence i wouldn't even need the mtech 2 one.

that was a nice little write up. thanks for that. do you have any photos of where you bolted the bumper cover to the valence and a look at the finished product

also how will i mount the whole assembly to the car once its together? oem Mtech 2 rears have popouts that allow accesses to the bolts that hold the bumper on. i dont think the replica will have those. will the apron get in the way of the bolts?

Its 3:30am, why are we both awake, and on r3v?

The fiberglass insert was already mounted to the car. I slid the assembled bumper cover/apron over it and then used those plastic grommets to secure to the fiberglass insert. Attach the bumper cover ends to the body and pop the black plastic trim on the bumper cover and you're done.

Yeah, the apron will get in the way of the bolts. If you have to remove the bumper cover/apron in the future, you will need to disconnect the whole assembly at the bumper shock to body. Have you done the plastic bumper conversion yet?

I didn't take any photos when I put it together or assembled off the car. There was a photo at that link mounted on the car.

I'll snap a photo from underneath later today to show the mounting hardware.
