Late model valance on early model e30 with "divingboards"
I am doing the tucked bumper with plastic valance on my 88 vert. I am trying to figure out why I am getting this, also the adaptor on the side that's loose has been broken off, suggestions:
i personally love my diving boards. not at first but i replaced my stock bumper shocks (1986 325es) with ones from an early model vert and its considerably shorter, i think tucking bumpers usually looks bad especially when the shroud gets wavy, not to mention anybody even bumping into you in a parking spot will do much more damage than you want. as for staying on topic, 1988 had the late model valance on DB, usually looks pretty good, a few pages in on google and you can see more.
But the shroud is screwed in to the valance so to get any real access you must remove the bumper first. If you have a deep socket I believe there are 4 10mm bumper bolts holding the bumper to the shock. You undo the corner lights and the bolts on either side of the shocks and just pull the bumper off of the shocks
