Sounds like a lot of work, I would personally not worry about it. It's easy enough to get rid of the sunroof with a sheet of metal. I wouldn't want to go through the trouble of cutting off the entire roof and sectioning in the non-sunroof section. To do that right would be a lot of work-- more than just a simple panel welded in place of the stock one. Lots of E30 racer guys around here do that. Other guys just gut the roof of the sunroof stuff and make simple brackets to fasten the bare sunroof panel in the hole and seal it on the top.

    ^My opinion.

yeah not worth grafting the roof but if the entire shell can be saved, it'd be a nice platform for a track car.

My first 318(85') had a manual sunroof. It was ok but I didn't really care about it either way.

        My 91' 318is is a slicktop. I like it.
I don't always wreck cars, but when I do I wreck them into trees.

Me second 318iS is a slick top. Didn't notice till I got it home. Funny thing is, it was originally from Hawaii and I thought it odd that it didn't have the sunroof.

I wish I could find one of those in the junkyard down here. I am going to weld up that annoying roof on my E30. Slicktop FTW!
By the way iirc the slick top was an option on the E46 M3 "sport option" or something like that. So that helmets would fit.
I would have loved to have that option on my E46 330ci as well.
